marketing strategyEvery business needs a steady supply of new, potential clients to become successful. And this is true for any business….whether you are a plumber, an affiliate marketer, a naturopathic physician, a tarot card reader, or a dog trainer.

The advent of the internet has opened up many marketing possibilities that were not available just a few short years ago.  And many of these are low to no cost strategies.  They just require some time and know how.

While there are many marketing strategies to choose from there are 3 fundamentals you must employ if you want to reap the rewards from your marketing efforts. I like to call these the 3 C’s of internet marketing success.  Here’s the first one…

Content

Content is the foundation of the internet. People go online to research and get information that solves their most pressing problems. As a business owner you want your ideal clients or, Divine tribe as I like to call them, to discover the problem-solving information that you have posted.

This could be in the form of articles, blog posts, videos, podcasts, slide shows on slideshare, a blog talk radio show, your tweets, a Facebook group, a Ning community that you have created, or a forum that you have posted in.

I realize that it is common sense, but the more places you have content in, the greater chance you have of connecting with your Divine tribe and showing off your expertise.  Which leads us to our second “C”…connections.

Connections

Connections are the life-blood of the internet. Whether it is connections in the form of back-links or 35,000 Twitter followers the more relevant connections you have the more success you will enjoy.

Notice that I said relevant.  It’s important to know who you want to solve problems for (your Divine tribe) so you can create content specifically for them.

Because of Social Media, marketing and advertising has changed forever.  Push marketing is quickly going extinct to be replaced with relationship marketing.  There are now conversations not conversions between businesses and their potential clients.  People are expecting businesses to be found on the internet where they can check them out and connect with them prior to doing business with them.

This bears repeating, the more quality connections you have, both people and links, the more success you will enjoy.

Now on to the third “C”…

Consistency

This is probably the most important of the three C’s.  Consistency.  Too many people create some content, maybe 3 articles, 5 blog posts, and a video throw it up on the internet and then sit back and wait for the leads to roll in.

Sorry, I wish it worked that way but it doesn’t.  You need to post content regularly. And if you are new in your business, the more content you create and distribute the better to help you gain momentum and traction with your marketing efforts.  Creating a marketing schedule will really serve you in staying consistent with your marketing.

And you need to be consistent in staying in front of your new connections.  Yes, there is a lot of competition on the internet.  More and more blogs are going up every day and Facebook is growing exponentially.  It’s crowded and noisy.

And people have short attention spans.

It’s imperative that you consistently stay in front of your new connections and people that you have attracted into your Divine tribe.

The formula for success is quite easy.  Be clear about who you want to serve and help them solve one of their pressing problems.  Create content that addresses that problem and showcases your expertise.  Create as many connections as you can with your content leading the way.  And be consistent with your marketing efforts.

Finally reap the rewards of a successful, thriving business.

And…make sure you have fun along the way!
